HMS Will Support KDHE in Conducting Healthcare Facility Surveys, Fire/Life Safety Code Surveys, and Technical Assistance Services.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has awarded Healthcare Management Solutions, LLC (HMS) a contract to help conduct on-site inspection surveys of healthcare facilities, fire/life safety code surveys, and provide technical assistance related to agency licensing and oversight of facilities during all facets of construction or renovations.

HMS’ specialized team of highly trained surveyors will assist KDHE in conducting certification, complaint, and immediate jeopardy inspections in non-long-term care healthcare facilities across the state, including:

  • Hospitals or Specialty Hospitals
  • Critical Access Hospitals (CAH)
  • Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASC)
  • Licensed and or Certified Home Health Agencies (HHA)
  • Rural Health Clinics (RHC)
  • Outpatient Physical Therapies (OPPT)
  • Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facilities (CORFs)
  • End Stage Renal Disease Facilities (ESRD)
  • Hospice Providers
  • Mobile X-ray Suppliers
  • Licensed Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID)

“We are proud to have this opportunity to work with KDHE in support of its crucial mission of ensuring the quality care and safety of non-long-term care residents and patients in Kansas,” says Leah Heimbach, president & owner of HMS. “The surveys our team conducts are essential, especially in instances of immediate jeopardy where people’s lives might be at risk.”

HMS will also work closely with KDHE to provide technical assistance and review plans for all new non-long-term care buildings, replacement facilities and additions, or alterations to existing buildings.

Reviewing construction and renovation plans is a critical first step to protecting patients, even before they step inside a healthcare facility. HMS will canvas the environment to ensure the health and safety of all people who are served in these facilities.

“HMS brings a breadth of experience to this assignment that is vital to helping KDHE ensure the safety of the populations served in these facilities,” added Heimbach. “Our surveyors bring more than 60 years of specialized experience in reviewing healthcare facility construction and renovation plans.”
