This Veterans Day, HMS honors all who have served and currently serve in the United States Armed Forces. We must all acknowledge and express our gratitude for the sacrifices these individuals have made for the betterment of our nation. This year, we are spotlighting three of our many incredible team members who have served our country as members of the U.S. military and now serve our nation’s most vulnerable through their important roles at HMS.

“Veterans have invested their heart and soul into protecting this nation,” said HMS President & Owner Leah Heimbach. “Not only on Veterans Day, but throughout the year, we owe them the same investment of our hearts and expertise to remember them, serve them, and protect them.”

Ann Kenny

Ann Kenny is the Chief Growth Officer at HMS. Ann’s highly diverse background includes 21 years as a military officer with assignments in key positions, including Director of Strategic Planning, Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense, Health Affairs; Executive Officer, U.S. Army Public Health Command; and as faculty at the Military Medical Department Center and School. During her time in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense, Ann led the development of a 20-year Health Care Requirements program that crosscuts throughout the DOD.

Gary Stives

Gary Stives is an Exceptions Analyst at HMS. Gary spent 7 years in the U.S. Army and says that this was “without a doubt one of the best decisions [he] ever made.” He worked as a Senior Military Police Customs Inspector while stationed in Vicenza, Italy, and was a squad leader working as an MP while stationed at Ft. Myer, Virginia. After being promoted to the rank of E-5 (SGT), Gary worked as a shift leader at the front entrance to the only maximum-security prison in DOD at the time at Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas.

Kathi Davis

Kathi Davis is a Medical Facility Surveyor at HMS. Kathi served in the Navy from 1982 to 1987. She started her service in Bangor, Washington, piloting nuclear submarines through Puget Sound. The post was a significant and unusual honor to get so early in her term of service. She next accepted an opportunity to attend air traffic control (ATC) school, serving as a Naval Air Traffic Controller stationed in Key West, Florida. Her ATC service coincided with a strike by civilian air traffic controllers, which proved challenging for military ATC personnel.

HMS Continues to Protect America’s Veterans

At HMS, we strive to ensure that our nation’s veterans receive the care, respect and appreciation they deserve. When we work with the Veterans Administration, we bring not only our expertise in IT and disaster recovery solutions, surveys, and technical assistance, but also a deep respect for veterans. Every one of them deserves not only our gratitude but also the very best healthcare this nation can provide.

As an employer of healthcare subject matter leaders, HMS maintains strong recruitment relationships with veterans’ organizations so we can attract individuals to our team who have honorably served this nation. We are devoted to ensuring that all vulnerable populations, especially our nation’s veterans, receive the highest standard of care. And we will continue to be driven by our nationwide mission of service, in the spirit of America’s veterans.
